Message from the Secretariat

Dear Visitor

It is my pleasure to heartily welcome you on the new web site of the European Nuclear Education Network Association. Whether you are a Student looking for nuclear related courses, training or interesting events on our web site, a Professor looking for teaching and mobility opportunities, interuniversity networking or how to participate to a European Community funded project or cooperation, a Young Professional looking for advanced training and highly specialized topical seminars, a future Master of Science or PhD searching for an interesting and relevant subject for a thesis, or just an occasional Surfer on the WWW, I trust that everyone of you will enjoy scanning the pages of the ENEN web site and will find what you are looking for or discover the unexpected interesting items, whose existence you had not been aware of until now.

The picture banner on the home page illustrates the successive generations of nuclear power plants, becoming more effective and reaching ever higher standards of safety and reliability as the main supplier of electricity in several European countries. Next to them is the human factor, the people designing, operating and maintaining our valuable sources of energy. The investment by the Student in his learning period and practice works and the investment by Societies in education and training are rewarded respectively by the recognition of competence and the career perspectives, and the assurance of having reliable, motivated and unbiased experts dealing with our complex technologies.

The picture of the lecture room next to International Court in the Hague symbolizes the highest level of competence, independence and social awareness as they are required in the application of nuclear techniques and technologies. ENEN endeavors to support within its possibilities the ambitions of students and professionals to reach such level. Remember however that efforts and commitment are needed, and that success in research and new discoveries are a combination of some good ideas, some initiatives to catch opportunities, and a lot of endurance and perseverance, as many examples would illustrate. Vasco da Gama is just one such example.

What can better show ENEN's view on international cooperation than a multicultural and multiracial university campus? No field before nuclear technologies was ever so sensitive to international cooperation, so dependent on it and so much involved in it, from its starting phase with the atoms for peace to its current developments in global governance for safety, security and non-proliferation.

We endeavour that a basket of ENEN products, publications, CDs, courses, books, seminars, web-based teachings, would be blooming like the flowers on this market place, attractive, easily accessible, valuable and satisfying. Providing a platform for contacts and links to education, training and research institutions, and other similar networks, the ENEN Association wants to facilitate an easy access to knowledge, advice and expertise in a variety of nuclear disciplines, from nuclear physics to nuclear medicine, from nuclear energy to international nuclear law.

Dear Visitor, enjoy the new ENEN dynamic web site, let us know your opinion and suggestions for improvement, and come back many times.

With best wishes,
